State Rep. decides not to challenge GOP House Majority Leader in primary

Republican Minnesota Rep. Carol McFarlane has decided she won't challenge House Majority Leader Matt Dean in a primary.

McFarlane, from White Bear Lake, had been placed in the same district as Dean, from Dellwood, in new political maps released in February. They faced off in a local Republican convention and Dean easily won.

On Friday, after weeks of consideration, she said she had decided not to challenge him in an August primary.
