State Patrol confirms fatality in 35W motorcycle crash in Burnsville

The State Patrol says one person is dead following a car vs motorcycle crash Thursday morning on I-35W in Burnsville.

Update: The State Patrol says Gregory Cox, 55, of Burnsville, was the motorcyclist who died in a crash Thursday morning on I-35W in Burnsville.

According to the patrol, Cox sideswipped another vehicle and then was hit by a third vehicle that was involved.

The State Patrol says one person is dead following a car vs motorcycle crash Thursday morning on I-35W in Burnsville.

By early afternoon the patrol said the motorcyclist was killed in the crash which occurred at 8:20 in the HOT lane of northbound 35W at Burnsville Pkwy. The cyclist's name had not been released.

According to the patrol, the motorcyclist sideswipped a Nissan Murano and then was hit by another vehicle. Neither car driver, Elizabeth Peterson, of Lonsdale, Minn., or Steven Amoapim-Usher of St. Louis Park, sustained injury, a final report said.

MnDOT closed the two left lanes of 35W for a couple hours to allow a reconstruction team to investigate. Traffic was restricted to the far right lane and was backed up to Crystal Lake Road shortly after the crash.
