Duluth area: Anglers are enjoying the best action on Boulder Lake at about 16-18 feet using leeches or chub minnows. Fish and Caribou Lake have produced good bass action using night crawlers or artificial baits. Northerns have been biting.
Ely area: Anglers are catching walleyes on most area lakes at about 10-25 feet, trolling with spinner baits with leeches or crawlers. Crappies are hitting on minnows or soft bait jigs at about 3-12 feet. Northerns are taking spoons or spinners along weed-edges or drops-offs.
Faribault area: Cedar Lake has produced some good sunfish and crappie action using mostly wax worms or crappie minnows. Anglers have also caught a few bass on Cedar using spinner baits or fathead minnows.
Lake Minnetonka: The best walleye action has been at deeper depths (26-32 feet) during the early mornings hours (5-7 a.m.) and during the evenings (8-10 p.m.) using Lindy rigs with leeches on the main lake, Smith and Browns Bay and Diamond Reef.
Leech Lake: Anglers are heading out toward Big Hardwood Point, the Meadows, First Duck, Second Duck, and Big Rock for good walleye action using leeches or crawlers at 9-18 feet.
