State fishing report

Alexandria area: Anglers are catching some walleyes on lakes Mary and Andrew in 12 to 15 feet of water using fatheads, leeches or nightcrawlers. Lake Miltona is producing some walleye action at 9 to 12 feet with jigs and minnows or leeches. Bass are being caught on the chain (lakes Le Homme Dieu, Carlos and Darling) at 6 to 10 feet using plastic worms, crank baits or spinner baits. Crappie action has been reported as solid on Lake Ida.

Leech Lake: Walleyes are being caught on leeches near the annex reef north of Pelican Island. Other goods spots for walleyes are Submarine Bay, Portage Bay, Sucker Bay and Walker Bay along the sand points. Bass and panfish are being caught along the weed lines.

Big Stone Lake: According to Schmidt's Landing Resort, good-sized walleyes are being caught on the south end of the lake using bottom bouncers and spinners tipped with a crawler over the weeds along the Minnesota and South Dakota shorelines. Other good spots for walleyes are off Manhattan Island near the reef as well as across from Hartford Beach on the Minnesota side from Mallord Pointe to Salmonson's Point. White bass have being caught during the evening.

Mankato area: Anglers are catching walleyes on Bakers Bay on Lake Washington and on Lake Madison around the narrows at 10 to 15 feet pulling crank baits or using jigs with leeches. Bass can be caught on Lake Francis using spoons. Crappie and sunfish action is good on Washington.

Lake Waconia: Those trying to catch walleyes are having some luck on the corners of the island and the mid-lake reefs such as Keg's and North. Bass action has been good at shallow depths around their spawning areas using plastic worms or spinner baits with the best spots being reefs like Center, Pillsbury or North. Sunfish can be caught at shallow depths using angle worms or wax worms on a small jig. Crappies are at deeper depths such as the reeds on the northwest shoreline.

East metro: The best bet to catch a walleye on White Bear Lake is during the evening at shallow depths. On Bald Eagle, walleyes are hitting at 8 to 15 feet on fathead minnows or leeches. Crappie and sunfish action has been productive at 6 to 10 feet.
