The Minnesota State Fair Bandshell has gone country this year. Well, pretty much so. Probably to balance the fact that only one country act, Carrie Underwood, has been booked for the grandstand.

Bandshell Tonight headliners include Rosanne Cash, Lost Trailers and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Also scheduled are R&B veterans Boyz II Men and the Family Stone (that's without Sly Stone) as well as Duluth's bluegrassy rockers Trampled by Turtles.

Other free stages are heavy on Minnesota acts, with Maria Isa, Belfast Cowboys, Dosh and Alison Scott set for the Bazaar After Dark and the Pines, Romantica, Billy McLaughlin, Martin Zellar and Roma di Luna performing at the Heritage Square Sundown Series.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
