Stars are stung again; road skid reaches nine • MONTREAL 5, DALLAS 3: The Stars' Mike Modano scored his 550th career goal Thursday, but the Stars suffered their ninth consecutive road loss dating to Dec. 11. Brian Gionta scored twice for the Canadiens, who also got a goal from Benoit Pouliot.

PHOENIX 4, NEW JERSEY 3: Daniel Winnik scored the decisive goal with 8:08 remaining for the Coyotes, ending a four-game home losing streak. Brian Rolston's two goals led the Devils.

PITTSBURGH 3, EDMONTON 2: Jordan Staal assisted on all three third-period goals for the Penguins, who wiped out a two-goal deficit in a 7:12 span against the Oilers in Edmonton, Alberta.

LOS ANGELES 4, ANAHEIM 0: The host Kings broke it open with a three-goal second period, then endured a chippy third period in a victory over the Ducks.

CHICAGO 3, COLUMBUS 0: Cristobal Huet posted his fourth shutout, and Brian Campbell, Dustin Byfuglien and Duncan Keith scored for Chicago, which won its final home game before an eight-game trip.

FLORIDA 3, TAMPA BAY 2: Cory Stillman and Rostislav Olesz had third-period goals that rallied the Panthers to victory over the Lightning in Tampa, Fla. Tomas Vokoun gloved a penalty shot by Tampa Bay's Martin St. Louis with 4:55 remaining in the third, ending St. Louis' 11-game points streak.

TORONTO 4, PHILADELPHIA 0: Vesa Toskala made 38 saves for his first shutout since October 2008, and Tyler Bozak opened the scoring in the second period with his first NHL goal, in Toronto.

BOSTON 2, SAN JOSE 1 (SO): Zdeno Chara scored the lone goal of the shootout, in the fourth round, for the visiting Bruins.

OTTAWA 2, N.Y. RANGERS 0: Chris Campoli broke a scoreless tie with 1:14 left, and the visiting Senators broke a five-game losing streak.

BUFFALO 2, ATLANTA 1 (OT): Derek Roy scored a power-play goal at 2:27 of overtime, and the Sabres won in Atlanta for their seventh victory in eight games.

DETROIT 3, CAROLINA 1: Drew Miller had a goal and an assist, and Jimmy Howard made 37 saves for the host Red Wings. Cam Ward made 32 saves, but Carolina's three-game winning streak ended.
