Staples, Minn., driver is killed near Cushing

A 23-year-old Staples man was killed early Saturday in a head-on collision on Hwy. 10 four miles north of Cushing, Minn., in Morrison County. According to the State Patrol, Mitchell R. Koppes was driving north in the southbound lane at 1:46 a.m. when his Ford Escort crashed into a Lexus.

The driver of the Lexus, 39-year-old James M. Allen, of Sartell, was listed in critical condition, while a passenger in his car suffered less severe injuries.
