St. Paul Saints open playoff series in Winnipeg

The St. Paul Saints will play Winnipeg in a best-of-five American Association division series starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Goldeyes' Shaw Park. Game 2 on Thursday also will be there before the rest of the series moves to CHS Field in St. Paul, starting Saturday,

In 17 regular-season games, the Saints, the North Division champions, were 8-9 against Winnipeg, a wild-card playoff team.

The Saints have two of the American Association's top pitchers in starter Mark Hamburger (12-6, 3.29 ERA) and closer Ryan Rodebaugh (3-2, 1.85 ERA, 23 saves).

The Goldeyes led the league in runs with 594 and were third in batting with a .283 average.
