A St. Paul man who drove his sport-utility vehicle off a ramp to Interstate 94 and onto another vehicle last month has died.

Eric M. Fuentes, 38, was traveling from W. 7th Street to westbound I-94 about 8:40 p.m. March 29 when his vehicle left the ramp and dropped onto another vehicle driven by Jennifer L. Beardsley, 37, of St. Paul. Beardsley suffered only minor injuries, the State Patrol reported at the time.

Beardsley was in an SUV heading from Marion Street to a ramp leading to eastbound I-94 when Fuentes' car dropped on hers. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. No alcohol use was detected for either of them.

Fuentes, a journeyman for Iron Workers Local 512, was hospitalized in critical condition at Regions Hospital after the crash. He died April 7, according to his obituary. His funeral was April 13.
