St. Paul man killed in shooting; lone suspect in custody

A confrontation that ended with a shooting led to the death of a St. Paul man early Sunday, authorities said.

Officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 1400 block of York Avenue on the city's East Side shortly after 3 a.m. Police found a wounded man, who died at the scene.

A 19-year-old man was later arrested at the scene without incident. Police said they aren't looking for any other suspects. The Star Tribune generally does not name suspects until they have been charged.

Police didn't give details on what sparked the altercation.

The Ramsey County medical examiner's office is working to identify the victim and is expected to release his name in the next few days.

In another weekend shooting, Brooklyn Park police continue to look for suspects in the fatal shooting of a man in a home early Saturday morning. The man, whose identity hasn't been released, was found by police about 2 a.m. at a home in the 6200 block of Winnetka Avenue He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Others at the house told police that several men were involved in a fight before the shooting took place.
