Freddy Rivera was sentenced Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court to nine years in prison after pleading guilty last month to two counts of attempted second-degree murder in two stabbing incidents. Charges filed in three other stabbing incidents were dismissed.
At his plea hearing in March, Rivera, 32, of St. Paul, admitted that on April 21, 2008, Carlos Gonzales and Carlos Dominguez came to his home in the 1600 block of E. 4th Street. Court documents said the men went there to collect money that Rivera owed Dominguez. Rivera stabbed both men.
On Sept. 18, Rivera fought with Christian Ortiz in the parking lot of Mazatlan Bar in St. Paul and Rivera stabbed Ortiz.
