A St. Paul man attacked his girlfriend, threw her around their ninth-floor apartment, dragged her to a window and pushed her partway outside after they argued over his fidelity, according to charges.
Mikel A. Tekle, 26, was drinking with a friend and his girlfriend of several months at 1:37 a.m. Wednesday when the assault occurred in the 1200 block of St. Anthony Avenue, according to a terroristic threats charge filed against him in Ramsey County District Court.
According to the complaint, Tekle and his girlfriend began arguing about his fidelity. He grabbed her and beat her all over her body, at one point throwing her to the floor. She landed on an air conditioner, gashing her knee.
Tekle dragged the woman to a window, where he opened it and pushed her outside from the waist up, threatening to kill her. The screen was already missing.
When the woman resisted, the friend pulled her inside by her leg, the complaint said. The woman's 4-year-old son, who turns 5 on Saturday, told police he witnessed the ordeal.
Tekle told police he could not remember making any threats or trying to throw the woman out the window because he had been drinking.
