Mychel A. Stowers, 20, is accused of trying to kill his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his 8-month-old child, on Jan. 30.
He's accused of helping to kill an unarmed man in the parking lot of JJ's Fish and Chicken in St. Paul 12 days later. Stowers was charged Tuesday in Ramsey County District Court with second-degree murder in the Feb. 11 death of Antonio Sims.
Charges of second-degree assault, terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation in connection with the attack on his ex-girlfriend were filed last week but made public Thursday.
That complaint said Stowers punched the 20-year-old woman, poked her with a pencil, choked her until she couldn't speak or breathe and pointed a "long gun" at her and threatened to kill her. The baby was there for all of it, the complaint said.
Stowers is being held in the Ramsey County jail.
