Ever thought about learning to sing Gregorian Chant in Latin? Or honing those church choir singing skills?

Then the first Archdiocesan Youth Choir Camp may be for you — IF you happen to meet the age criteria. The Cathedral of Saint Paul will host this new day camp at the cathedral from 22-26 August.

Choir Camp is for Cathedral Saint Cecilia choristers and new choristers ages 10-17. If children are turning 10 during the school year 2011-12, they may attend camp.

While current membership in the Cathedral Saint Cecilia Choir is not necessary to attend the day camp, choristers may want to continue singing in the newly-formed Archdiocesan Youth Choir starting in September, for which the Saint Cecilia Choir will serve as the core choir.

Choir Camp organizers say participants will:

Although an audition is not required, choristers attending the camp will need to be able to match pitch. Directed by the Cathedral's Director of Music, Robert Ridgell, the Cathedral sacred music and arts staff will teach music theory and vocal pedagogy.

The cost of the day camp is $75 and includes lunch. To register, e-mail: choristers@cathedralsaintpaul.org
