St. Mary's University is the proud owner of a historic mansion in south Minneapolis.

The Winona-based school announced today that it finalized its purchase of the Harrington Mansion and Events Center. The property is on Park Avenue, next to the university's Schools of Graduate and Professional Programs.

According to a news release:

Finance and Commerce reported in February that St. Mary's had a purchase agreement for the 1.66-acre property. According to the publication:

The university paid $2.75 million, the news release says. "A $2 million gift from an anonymous donor made the purchase possible for St. Mary's."

The Harrington Mansion was built in 1902 for Charles Harrington, who owned a grain processing and distribution business, St. Mary's said. Its architects also designed the Minneapolis Grain Exchange Building and the Loring Theater, which is now called the Music Box Theater.
