• Construction of a four-lane bridge between Oak Park Heights and St. Croix County, Wis., will begin in 2014 with completion scheduled for 2017.
• The latest cost estimate ranges from $571 million to $676 million. Minnesota would pay up to $371 million because of extensive road and utility work on Hwy. 36. Wisconsin would pay up to $305 million.
• Traffic is expected to grow to about 50,000 vehicles daily on the new bridge by 2030. The Stillwater Lift Bridge will become part of a loop trail once the new bridge opens.
• Project details, including animated tours, are available at www.dot.state.mn.us/ stcroixcrossing.
