A 26-year-old man from Mayer, Minn., died Thursday when his motorcycle crossed a centerline in McLeod County and was struck head-on by a semitrailer truck, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Justin J. Nowak died at the scene of the crash on Hwy. 7 near Vale Avenue. He had been headed west, while the semi was eastbound.

The semi driver, Daniel McBride, 55, of Watertown, S.D., was taken to a hospital in Hutchinson for treatment of noncritical injuries, the patrol said.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 37-year-old woman from St. Cloud was killed and four people were injured when a pickup truck rear-ended the SUV they were in on Interstate 94 in Stearns County, the patrol said.

Melissa Ann Ali was fatally injured when the 2000 Ford Expedition she was driving west near Milepost 176 in Lynden Township was rear-ended by a 2012 Ford 150 pickup being driven by Wyatt N. Richards, 20, of Fargo, N.D. Ali's vehicle went into the right ditch and rolled over several times, the patrol said.

She was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, where she died.

Her passengers — Amina S. Ali, 12; Asli S. Ali, 15, Malik Ali, 8, and Omar S. Ali, 6 — were taken to the hospital for treatment of noncritical injuries, the patrol said.

Richards was not hurt.

All involved in the crash were wearing seat belts except for Amina Ali. Alcohol was not a factor, the patrol said.
