St. Cloud State to open basketball season at Michigan State

The Huskies will play an exhibition game on Nov. 2 against the Spartans. What's the St. Cloud connection to coach Tom Izzo?

The St. Cloud Times is reporting that St. Cloud State's men's basketball team will play an exhibition game against national power Michigan State on Nov. 2 at East Lansing.

The connection?

Andy Rennecke of the Times wrote: "The game came about thanks to St. Cloud State sophomore guard Kevin Levandoski, who is a nephew to Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo."

It's not uncommon for Division II and NAIA schools to be the visiting team in such games, but it's the first time the Huskies have gone out of state to play a Division I basketball team, Rennecke reported.

Levandoski is a sophomore reserve guard from Wisconsin, who has a place on the Internet for this piece of excitement during his high school career in Appleton:
