COMPETING WITH A BUDGET

Here's an overview of planned cuts and adjustments to athletic programs at St. Cloud State:

• Men's and women's tennis, women's Nordic skiing, men's cross-country and men's indoor/outdoor track and field will be eliminated at the end of the school's 2015-16 academic year because of budget concerns.

• A roster management plan also will call for small increases in roster size for women's programs and roster reductions in baseball, football, swimming and diving and wrestling.

• The cuts will save an estimated $250,000 but impact 80 student-athletes.

• The university will honor athletic scholarships for up to four years, but athletes in the affected programs will have to transfer if they want to continue their athletic careers.
