DENVER - Forecasts for snow and high winds have parts of Colorado bracing for 3-foot snowdrifts by Tuesday night.
High winds were already delaying flights Monday evening in Denver. A few Denver-bound flights were diverted to Colorado Springs.
The National Weather Service says the Denver area could get 6 to 11 inches of snow through Tuesday.
Before the snow arrived, it was 70 degrees at the Denver airport at midday Monday, and a grass fire burned about 2 square miles in eastern Colorado. No structures burned.
In Wyoming, snow is falling, and a winter storm warning covers cities including Cheyenne, Laramie and Riverton.
The storm could boost mountain snowpack, which helps provide water through the summer. Colorado's snowpack was at 69 percent of average Monday. Wyoming's snowpack was 77 percent of normal.
