A Twin Cities man has been identified as the speeding ATV operator who was under the influence of alcohol when he died in a late-night crash in Pine County over the weekend.

Kyle Rosengren, 30, of North St. Paul, crashed his off-road vehicle about 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Michaelson and Pine Lake roads in Finlayson, the Midwest medical examiner's office said Wednesday.

A woman on the ATV with him was injured and airlifted to a Twin Cities hospital with unspecified injuries, according to the Sheriff's Office. Her identity has yet to be disclosed.

"Witness statements indicate alcohol and speed ... as factors in the crash," a statement from the Sheriff's Office read.

The woman on the ATV told deputies that Rosengren was speeding and rolled the machine several times after not slowing at an intersection.

She called friends nearby for help, and they brought Rosengren back to their cabin, the Sheriff's Office said. Resuscitation efforts were begun before emergency personnel arrived.

Rosengren leaves behind a wife of 1½ years and a daughter who was born in March.
