The first batch of tickets sold out quickly. So the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra has added an extra show for its highly anticipated project pairing Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon with St. Paul's Tu Dance troupe. The April presentation is part of the SPCO's Liquid Music Series, known for bridging the worlds of classical and indie rock.
The event promises original music by Vernon and fresh choreography by Tu Artistic Director Uri Sands. As they prepare for their collaboration, the artists have been meeting in St. Paul and Eau Claire, Wis., where Vernon resides. Next month they will decamp for a residency at the MASS MoCA contemporary art museum in North Adams, Mass., to make final preparations.
The extra show will take place Sat., April 21 at 2 p.m., with sold-out performances previously scheduled for the evenings of April 19-21. The project's venue is St. Paul's recently renovated Palace Theatre. Tickets for the newly added concert cost $25-$45 and are available via liquidmusicseries.org.
