SAN FRANCISCO -- Twins center fielder Denard Span said he's looking forward to playing his final rehab game for Class AAA Rochester on Friday night and expects to rejoin the big league club this weekend in Oakland.

Span is in Louisville, Ky., rehabbing from a concussion. He hasn't played for the Twins since June 6. The goal was to get him to play nine innings for three consecutive days. He went 2-for-5 with a double on Wednesday and 1-for-4 on Thursday. He said he's ready to make it three in a row on Friday and then fly to the West Coast.

"That's the plan," Span said. "I'm getting ready for my last game here today, and hopefully I can join the team in Oakland."

The Twins might announce a more cautious plan, as they'll want to make sure Span is ready before being activating him from the DL. I'll have more later from the Oakland Coliseum.
