Southwest Heating Up Later this Week

Temperatures will soar anew under blazing sunshine over the Desert Southwestbeginning at midweek as high pressure builds over the Four Corners.The outcome will be widespread 110 to 115 F heat from Phoenix to Las Vegas andPalm Springs, Calif.

As the heat spreads northward over the inter-Mountain, 100-degree heat couldreach Salt Lake City and Reno, Nev.

Following a hiatus, 100-degree heat will become widespread over the Californiainterior as far north as the Sacramento Valley.

The effects of this heat wave will be blunted along and near the Californiacoast, where beaches will stay fairly cool under daily sea breezes, but valleysof the Coast Ranges and Southern California will become noticeably hot.
