The snowstorm developing across Texas will continue to take shape as it pusheseast of the Mississippi River Friday. Snow will spread eastward across most ofMississippi and Alabama, leaving a slushy mess on grassy surfaces, andpotentially causing icing problems on untreated roads Friday night.Snow is expected to start around Jackson, Miss. by 7 or 8 p.m., and will spreadacross much of Alabama after midnight. Temperatures will drop considerably asthe night progresses, falling below freezing. Any untreated roads in the pathof the storm could develop slick spots and dangerous black ice.

Conditions will improve during the day Saturday as the storm system moves offto the east and clouds begin to break for sunshine. However, temperatures willremain at or below freezing during the morning hours, and road surfaces canstill be glazed over.
