The weekend appears headed for a wet finale, at least in the south metro area, southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. A flash flood watch has been issued, which may include periods of moderate to torrential rainfall from 4 p.m. Sunday through early Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

The watch area extends along a line from Olivia through the Twin Cities to New Richmond and Menomonie, Wis. One to 3 inches of rain is likely, and could be as much as 4 to 6 inches in certain areas, with much of the rain occurring over a two to three-hour period in late afternoon and evening. The rain is described as a "slow-moving frontal boundary across the watch area," according to the NWS.

West central Wisconsin counties of Dunn, Pepin, Pierce and St. Croix also are included in the watch.
