Large parts of the southeastern United States have been abnormally dry the
second half of the summer, and it looks like this pattern will continue through
the remainder of this week.
High pressure will remain off the Southeast coast the next few days, keeping the moist flow of air well to the south and northwest of the region.
According to the United States Drought Monitor, parts of eastern Virginia and southeastern Alabama are experiencing severe drought conditions. Moderate drought conditions persist over southern Georgia, upstate South Carolina and eastern North Carolina.
Moist air from the tropics could bring much-needed showers and thunderstorms to the region later this weekend and into next week.

Some drivers put too much faith in a single tire type to handle every temperature and surface condition, while others want to avoid the time and added expense of switching to a dedicated winter tire.
