South St. Paul police are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who may have been involved in a shooting that left one man hospitalized Wednesday afternoon.

Officers went to the 200 block of Grand Avenue W. around 3:45 p.m. to investigate a report of shots fired and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound, authorities said. Witnesses reported that two men had fled the scene on foot before police arrived.

One of the men was spotted at a local business just minutes after the shooting, accompanied by a young woman, police said. Police believe the man to be in his late teens or early 20s. A surveillance photo shows him wearing a blue T-shirt and beige pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 651-554-3300.
