High school wins cheerleading titleLakeville North High School was among three Minnesota competition cheerleading teams who won national titles during the National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando this month.
Minnetonka High School repeated its national title in the Medium Varsity Non-Tumbling Division. This year, Lakeville North won the National Small Varsity Non-Tumbling division, and Bloomington Jefferson won the Super Varsity Division II competition.
The National Cheerleading Competition includes 25 divisions based on team size, school enrollment, girls or co-ed and three skill areas.
BURNSVILLE
Potters needed to 'throw' bowlsThe Burnsville School District is looking for experienced potters to throw bowls on a wheel as part of its "Empty Bowls for Full Bellies" event.
Participants can drop in as their schedule allows between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at Burnsville High School, 600 E. Hwy. 13, in the school's clay lab (Room H108). Parking will be available in the staff parking lot on the northwest side of the building. Food, beverages and treats will be provided.
The creations will be sold at the April 18 Empty Bowls event with proceeds supporting Brainpower in a Backpack, a Burnsville High School volunteer project that provides weekend food to local elementary schoolchildren who might otherwise go hungry.
By participating, potters will help create 600 bowls and raise more than $10,000 to benefit children.

Chick Evans caddie scholarships awardedFourteen high school seniors from Minnesota, including two with ties to Dakota County, have been awarded Chick Evans caddie scholarships for full tuition and housing at the University of Minnesota.
