NORTHFIELD

Mayor's gift shop closes after 15 yearsNorthfield Mayor Mary Rossing closed her downtown gift business this month after almost 15 years in three locations.

"Another business wanted to rent my space," Rossing said. Coldwell Banker has remodeled the 2,000 square feet formerly occupied by Present Perfect at 419 Division St., just off Bridge Square.

"It was a great run," said Rossing, who noted that her first shop had only about 200 square feet. She said she's looking for a venture with more schedule flexibility than the daily retailing grind.

Coldwell moved from a strip mall on nearby Hwy. 3 that was hard to find, said Realtor Katie Boler. It moved all 15 or so agents into the new space and opened July 1, she said.

"It is very strategically located for visibility," and the annual Jesse James bank shootout reenactment happens right across the street, Boler noted.

SAVAGE/PRIOR LAKE

Six newly minted Eagle Scout honoreesTroop 333 of Savage/Prior Lake will honor six new Eagle Scouts at a court of honor next month.

The fact that seven boys started out in Scouts together and six wound up as Eagles is extraordinary, officials say, considering that only about four of 100 make it that far. All six are 2011 graduates of either Prior Lake or Shakopee high school.

Andrew Christensen, Michael Dunning, Sam Farnen, Michael Goehring, Zach Johnson and Phillip Rasmussen will be recognized as a group on Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Glendale Methodist Church, 13550 Glendale Road in Savage.
