A two-story home caught fire early Tuesday in south Minneapolis, sending two occupants to the hospital, one of them unconscious and suffering burns, authorities said.

The blaze broke out about 3:45 a.m. at the home on the 2700 block of 18th Avenue S. and was brought under control before dawn, according to the Fire Department.

Two firefighters required medical attention, one at a hospital and another at the scene, the department added.

Along with the unconscious occupant taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, another person in the home was taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries, fire officials said.

A significant amount of fire damage occurred to the home's first floor and front porch. Authorities have yet to address the circumstances leading up to the blaze.
