Tiger Fun Run will benefit schools
The Farmington Area Education Foundation will again plan the Tiger Fun Run to kick off the 2014 homecoming festivities. The race is scheduled from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Boeckman Middle School.
Registration goes through Sept. 12. Participants should register in advance to ensure the right size T-shirt. The cost for adults is $30 and $15 for students. Participants can register by visiting www.supportfarmingtoneducation.org. Proceeds are distributed among district schools.
West St. Paul- Mendota Heights-Eagan
Referendum planned for Nov. 4 ballot
The West-St. Paul-Mendota Heights-Eagan school board voted unanimously to place three funding questions on the Nov. 4 ballot.
The first question asks for a $1.2 million-per-year renewal and increase of the technology levy, while the second proposes a $3.2 million building bond for security upgrades across the district, including remodeling front entrances.
The final question requests approval of a $4.5 million building bond to construct a stadium on the campus of Henry Sibley High School. The passage of the third question is contingent on the passage of the first two by a simple majority.
Together, all three would cost owners of an average, $200,000 home $32 per year.
Last May, the district also asked voters for more funding, with both referendum questions rejected. The first was a $1.7 million technology levy increase to maintain technology and purchase more iPads and laptops. The second was an $11.2 million measure that would have built a $7.5 million early childhood center and funded security upgrades.

Members needed for curriculum council
Community members and parents are invited to join the Curriculum Advisory Council, a group that helps plan districtwide curriculum and ensure that it meets local and state standards. Teachers, support staff and students are also members, but the district seeks community members to comprise two-thirds of the council.
