MARCH 17
Check welfare. Officers responded to a home on the 300 block of 1st Street W. to check the welfare of a man's mother. The man said he received a suspicious phone call supposedly coming from "a Mexican drug cartel" about his mother and he wanted to make sure she was OK. Officers checked the woman's home and no one was there. An officer re-contacted the reporting party and he said he learned that his mother had gone to the zoo.
MARCH 19
Suspicious activity. An officer observed a man walking near Rice Street S. and 1st Street E. and he appeared to be acting erratically. After the officer spoke with the man, it was determined he was just singing along with headphones on.
MARCH 22
Drugs. Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding at Broadway Street N. and 4th Street. The driver, a 20-year-old man, was arrested for two charges of felony fifth degree controlled substances, minor in possession of alcohol, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle, allowing an open container, and speeding. A 20-year-old male passenger was cited for misdemeanor minor in possession of alcohol and misdemeanor minor consumption of alcohol. A 19-year-old male passenger was cited for misdemeanor minor possession of alcohol and misdemeanor possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. A 20-year-old female passenger was cited with misdemeanor minor in possession of alcohol.
