Apple Valley senior Jacob DeWall plays a position from which goals are produced. The boys' lacrosse midfielder is a team-first kind of guy.
DeWall recently registered his school-record 66th assist in a 15-8 setback at the hands of Eagan in a South Suburban Conference matchup. The previous mark of 65 was set by Connor Uzlik in 2012.
"He is an unselfish player who gets his teammates involved," Apple Valley coach Michael Evans said.
Dewall has 54 assists over the past two seasons and leads the Eagles this season with 23 goals and 17 assists.
"Jacob is one of the best athletes we've ever had," Evans said. "Teams are constantly double- and triple-teaming him."
School record tied
Hastings sophomore Nick Dittrich shot a 3-under-par 33, tying the school record for a nine-hole round, in the Metro East Conference meet at Oak Marsh Golf Course in Oakdale.
Dittrich had three birdies and six pars in the round. He also had only 11 putts.
The Raiders have had three other players record a 33. They are Taylor Chorney at Bellwood Oaks in Hastings in 2002, Paul Swanson at the White Bear Yacht Club in Dellwood in 2003 and Jacob Cooper at Montgomery National in 2014.
