Aspiring gardeners can learn how to grow and use gardens during a free "Harvest Garden Celebration" at the LeDuc Historic Estate on June 2.

The event will include a demonstration of the EarthBox container gardening system, and visitors will be able to purchase their own EarthBox for $40. (You must reserve a box in advance by calling 651-437-7055). Those who have registered for an EarthBox garden will do their own planting that day.
Other topics will include beekeeping and honey production, keeping chickens, composting, the health benefits of gardening, rain gardens and native plant gardens.

Jazz concert May 30 The final concert of the season for the Carleton College Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combos is May 30. The show is free and open to the public.
The Jazz Ensemble, directed by David Singley, plays Big Band-era tunes as well as modern compositions. Singley is an active performer who has played in the orchestra pit for Broadway shows including "The Lion King," "Hairspray," "Chicago" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat." He has produced more than a dozen jazz CDs, including his 1997 solo album, "How My Heart Sings."
