Chorale's cabaret features "Music Man"The South Metro Chorale's 2011 Cabaret will feature songs from "The Music Man," with renditions ranging from "76 Trombones" to "Till There Was You."

The Chorale's Cabaret is a variety show presented in a dinner-theater setting. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 4 and 5 and 3 p.m. March 6 at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Av. in Lakeville. A silent auction and cash raffle will begin 30 minutes before each performance, and free appetizers, desserts and beverages will be served.

Crafts and reading for kids on SaturdayFamilies can make bookmarks and listen to a story during the Scott County Historical Society's February "Kids Kraft" event on Saturday.

The free event, from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m., will include a reading of "Charlie Cook's Favorite Book" by Julia Donaldson as well as free admission to the historical society's Stans Museum and research library.

"Kids Kraft," offered on the last Saturday of every month except December, engages kids ages 4-8 through pictures, stories and hands-on activities.

HASTINGS

PAC marketer speaking at LeDucThe Friends of LeDuc of Historic Hastings will meet at 7 p.m. on March 8 at the estate, at 1629 Vermillion St., for a short business meeting followed by a presentation by Kandice Nelson, director of marketing and development at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center.

Nelson is a graduate of Hamline University in communications and political science who had six years of experience before coming to Burnsville. She'll talk about the center's background and discuss the events being held there. The meeting is free and open to the public.

ROSEMOUNT

High school musicians featured in concertA MacPhail Center for Music "percussion showcase" Saturday featuring guest artist Ney Rosauro will include ensembles from Rosemount and other metro area high schools.

Other ensembles will come from Blaine, Wayzata, Centennial, Roseville and Coon Rapids high schools as well as from MacPhail.

The event is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Saturday at the MacPhail Center for Music's Antonello Hall, 501 S. 2nd St. in Minneapolis. Tickets are $5. For more information, call 612-767-5410.
