The Eagan Theatre Company is looking for six women and two men ages 30 and over for a female version of "The Odd Couple."

Auditions will be held July 27 and 28 between 4:30 and 7:45 p.m. at Rasmussen College on 3500 Federal Dr. in Eagan No roles have been pre-cast.

Candidates should be flexible, willing to play and not take themselves too seriously. Candidates should prepare a one- to two-minute contemporary, comedic monologue or can read from the script. Headshot photos and resumes can be submitted but are not necessary.

Callbacks will be held Aug. 1 if needed. Rehearsals will begin in early August. Performances are the first two weekends in October.

Digital art and short video contest

The deadline is Friday for professional and amateur artists to enter their work in the Making Tomorrow digital art and short video contest.

The contest is open to everyone but special consideration will be given to people with a connection to Dakota County.

Entries can be from individual artists or small groups of less than five people, ages 16 and up. Artists can submit two separate pieces and all pieces should be appropriate for adults and children.

Kids can paint a pet picture

Children ages 6 to 12 can paint a background on canvas and then add a picture of their pet at a workshop from 9:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Lakeville Area Arts Center, 20965 Holyoke Av.

Native American beading workshop

A workshop titled "Patterns of Life — Native American Bead Arts" will begin at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Pleasant Hill Library, 1490 S. Frontage Road.

Julie Boada of the Fond du Lac Nation will be the teacher. Participants will create a beaded bookmark or pouch.

Art on the Avenue

set for Saturday

Artists and art lovers will come together Saturday in West St. Paul for the third annual Art on the Avenue event.

The event is from 4 to 8 p.m. along Smith Avenue from the High Bridge in St. Paul to Dodd Road in West St. Paul. Artists will do demonstrations, paint faces and sell their work.

Tricia and the Toonies Enviro-show, which combines puppetry with music and education about recycling and the environment, will be held at 5 p.m.

A Kids Color Dash, a quarter-mile fun run where participants are covered in color along the way, will be held at 7 p.m.

The movie "Big Hero 6" will be shown at 8 p.m. in Dodd Park. Bring a chair or blanket and bug repellent.
