While Rhymesayers is understandably more interested in promoting Tuesday's all-star Benefit for Haiti concert at First Avenue (with Brother Ali, Freeway, Sage Francis, Sims, Toki Wright, host Slug and more), Minneapolis' empirical hip-hop label has quietly confirmed the date and location of its third annual Soundset festival. It will once again be held the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, May 30, in the parking lot outside Canterbury Park in Shakopee. There was no worry of the event bumping up against a Twins game if it were held outside the Metrodome, but organizers chose to keep it at Canterbury, where 15,000-plus fans trekked to last year for the fest (compared to about 12,000 the first year at the Dome). Performers and ticket info are a long way off, but at least you kids can put in for getting that day off work now.

Rumor has it that Canterbury Park is also being eyed as the location of the local Lilith Fair concert. Contrary to what you may have read elsewhere, though, organizers have not even confirmed the date of the all-female festival's return engagement in the Twin Cities.
