Solid Gold goes "Subterranean" on MTV2

The Minneapolis dance-rock band was tapped to host Sunday's episode of the hipster video show.

***UPDATE: The air time of the show was changed. Tune in (or set your Tivo/DVR) for Tuesday, March 2, at 3 a.m. for Solid Gold's hosting duties. I found out from the guys in the band the episode was actually filmed when they were at the CMJ Fest in New York this past fall.

Less than two weeks after its video made it onto MTV2 — the MTV channel that actually still plays music — Minneapolis dance-rock group Solid Gold has been recruited to host the network's Sunday night hipster show "Subterranean" this weekend. The band members will talk between videos by Julian Casablancas, Spoon and Hot Chip as well as their own "Matter of Time" clip during the hourlong episode, which airs locally at 1 a.m. (technically the wee hours of Monday). "Subterranean" is the descendant of the old MTV's heyday-era show "120 Minutes."
This TV attention could provide a well-timed boost for Solid Gold as it heads back to the trendsetting South by Southwest Music Conference in Austin, Texas, in two weeks.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
