Actually, there are two storms coming up for the Northeastern part of thecountry. The first is a clipper that will come through Saturday and Saturdaynight with some light snow. There may be a couple of inches from upstate NewYork across northern New England; south of there, not too much this time.Early next week, another storm will take shape over southern Missouri, thentrack toward the northeast. This one will come up a bit farther west thanprevious storms, so milder air will be able to make inroads into themid-Atlantic region. That means mostly rain this time from West Virginia to NewJersey.
North of there, from northern Ohio across northern Pennsylvania to New England,cold air will be more reluctant to get out of the way, which probably means oneof those wintry mix situations from later Monday through Tuesday. Before anychange from snow to ice or rain takes place, a substantial snow accumulation ispossible north and east of a line from Syracuse, N.Y., to Binghamton, N.Y., toPortsmouth, N.H.
