Star magazine has issued an apology for suggesting that the actress and wife of peculiar fellow Tom Cruise has a drug problem. Says the mea culpa: "In our recent issue of Star, we published headlines about Katie Holmes that could be read to suggest that she was addicted to drugs. Star did not intend to suggest that Ms. Holmes was a drug addict or was undergoing treatment for a drug addiction."

Just to remind you:

Nope, no implications there. But you know how juries are these days. Swayed by celebrity and a pretty face. Best to settle now and move on. But did Star have a defense? Coverawards.com says:

Perhaps a malfunctioning "e-meter" might give you a SHOCK, and you would have to take aspirin, or a DRUG, if the experience gave you a headache. Perhaps that's what they were driving at.
