Snowy, slushy roads lead to spinouts and crashes

Good morning commuters.

The weather has left the roads in poor condition so expect to add extra time to your drive to work. Already we have a list of crashes. The worst conditions seem to be in the south metro.

I-494 seems to be problematic. The State Patrol is on the scene of two accidents on westbound 494. The first is blocking the left lane at Prairie Center Drive. Just ahead, a spinout is blocking the left lane at Valley View Road.

In the east metro, look for a crash blocking the left lane on westbound 494 at Hwy. 13.

There also is a crash on northbound 35E at Randolph Avenue.

I'll be here all morning monitoring your drive to work and letting you know where you will find incidents and delays on the roads and rails.

I could use your help, too. If you see something that would help your fellow commuters, let me know by leaving a comment here, e-mailing me at drive@startribune.com or a tweet @stribdrive.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
