Snowmobiler in Wright County goes airborne, is killed

A snowmobiler vaulted a hill in Wright County, slammed into a snow crest and was thrown to his death, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday along a trail running parallel to the 9800 block of Endicott Avenue NW. in Silver Creek Township, the Wright County Sheriff's Office said.

Killed in the crash northeast of Millstone Lake was Craig Peitz, 51, of Buffalo, Minn., the Sheriff's Office said.

Peitz was taken to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale in an air ambulance and died there, authorities said.
