The snow that falls across the Northeast Wednesday night and Thursday willpretty much be history by New Year's Eve celebrations. The forecast presentedhere is what happens Friday and beyond. This is going to be a bruiser of asnowstorm for the north country as well as for some of the snow belts to thelee of the Great Lakes.Notice that across the upper reaches of New England there is a fairly largearea that will get 12 to 18 inches by the end of the weekend. Furthermore, theeast-facing mountain slopes of New Hampshire and Maine might wind up with morethan 2 feet of snow. Ordinarily, ski resorts would be happy about that, but thetiming of the storm is not the best since the snowy weather might keepattendance down.
