Snow spread into the heart of the Intermountain along with the northern Rockies thanks to a strong spring storm on Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight on Wednesday through the day on Thursday, snow will fall mostly over mountains and high open country of Wyoming, Utah, western Colorado, southern Montana, southeastern Idaho and eastern Nevada.

Highest new snowfall to at least one foot by Thursday evening will cover the highland spine of central and northern Utah into western Wyoming and eastern Idaho. Drivers on highways I-70, I-80 and I-84 may encounter heavy snow and very slow travel through the passes.

Snowfall will vary across greater Salt Lake City with amounts to at least 6 inches along the foot of the Wasatch Range, but much less over the open valley floor.

On Thursday night and Friday, the snow will spread east of the Rockies in Colorado and Wyoming. Wet snow will become heavy over Denver.
