While the calendar shows April, the weather will appear more like January in the South. Not only will temperature be downright cold for this time of year today, but winds will be gusty, and a few snowflakes are possible during the morning hours Tuesday as far south as Atlanta! Rain showers will mix with wet snow this afternoon in central and eastern Tennessee and, as colder air continues its assault on the south, snowflakes will fly over much of Tennessee and the southern Appalachians tonight. In fact, from tonight through Tuesday, several inches of snow are likely in the Smokies above 3,500 feet. Lesser amounts, from 1-2 inches, are possible in valley locations.

On the whole, the cold and wind will have the greatest impact... well, at least be the more obnoxious impact, but snow will be the bigger story for many.
