Snow is falling across a large portion of western Europe Thursday. Eventhundersnow has been observed in France. A quick inch or two of snow fell inTroyess which is not a snowy area. Troyess, Nancy, France, had steady snow forseveral hours. Paris had snow showers as well.The coldest air of the season arrived in England Thursday. The temperature inLondon did not get out of the 30s F for the first time this year. Locally heavysnow squalls affected eastern England. An inch of snow fell in Leeming, on thenortheast coast, and a quick 3 inches of snow fell in Albemarle.

Temperatures will drop below freezing,so there could be a few slick spots. Snow showers will also continue acrossFrance, eastern England and Scotland through the night.

The cold weather pattern will continue for some time across much of Europe.

This pattern is very reminiscent of the cold, snowy patterns of last winter.

The United Kingdom had several rounds of very heavy snow that snarled trafficfor days.
