When it comes to snow emergencies, the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul are more fraternal than identical.
On what is the second of three snowy days in the metro area and points south and west, the west side twin has declared a snow emergency, while the twin to the east says not Monday but maybe Tuesday.
The Minneapolis parking restrictions start at 9 p.m. Monday to allow crews to plow 1,000 miles of streets from curb to curb. Here is what vehicle owners need to know to avoid a costly parking ticket, a towing fee and a visit to the impound lot:
From 9 p.m. Monday until 8 a.m. Tuesday: Do not park on either side of a snow emergency route until the street is fully plowed.
From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday: Do not park on the even side of a non-snow emergency route, or on either side of a parkway until the street is fully plowed.
From 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday: Do not park on the odd side of a non-snow emergency route until the street is fully plowed.
