Lynx players and those on nine of the 11 other WNBA teams will start wearing jerseys with the words "Boost Mobile" and its logo underneath their front numbers.
Boost Mobile and the WNBA have agreed to a multiyear partnership making the wireless service the first leaguewide marquee partner. Courts and pole pads at 10 WNBA areans, including Target Center, also will display the Boost Mobile brand. "An award-winning and dynamic brad such as Boost Mobile is a great fit as the WNBA's marquee partner," WNBA president Laurel Richie said. "Our partnership is a watershed moment for the WNBA, one that underscores the tremendous growth in our league and women's basketball over the past 15 years."
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Boost Mobile will also be the presenting partner of the WNBA Playoffs and WNBA Finals and, beginning next year, the title partner of WNBA All-Star game, the presenting partner of WNBA Tip-Off and WNBA All-Star balloting, and an associate partner at the WNBA draft Only the Phoenix Mercury and the San Antonio Silver Stars will not be wearing Boost Mobile on their jerseys. The Lynx are still looking for a primary jersey sponsor like teams such as Los Angeles, Phoenix and Seattle have. But this is another step toward the Lynx becoming financially stable, said a Lynx spokesperson. STATE FAIR APPEARANCE Monica Wright and Amber Harris of the Lynx will be at the FSN booth from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday.
