Singer-songwriter Lissie explains decision to not play the Varsity Theater

She moved Saturday's concert to the Pantages Theatre after hearing from fans on Twitter.

Saturday's Lissie concert at the Pantages Theatre was moved from the Varsity Theater after the singer got wind of the three lawsuits against Varsity owner Jason McLean. Three women have accused him of sexually abusing them as teenagers in the 1980s when he was an actor at the Children's Theatre Company. The allegations were investigated at the time and no charges were made, and McLean's attorney has denied the claims and promised to vigorously fight them.

Lissie is only the third act to make the decision to play elsewhere, the others being G. Love and DJ Jake Rudh of Transmission. Here's what she said on the matter:

"Once I'd heard about it, I didn't know if it's true, but I just didn't want to be in the mess of it. There are some fans who reached out to me on Twitter and said they wanted to come [to the show] but couldn't support this person. I didn't want to remain neutral necessarily, but I wanted to remove myself from the controversy and be respectful of everyone involved. It sounded disturbing. I don't know what the verdict will be, but I didn't feel comfortable being a part of it."
